Anwar earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with honours distinction from the University of Alberta, and earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of New Brunswick Law School in 2013. He completed his articles with Akram Attia Law Group and was admitted to the Alberta bar the following year.
Anwar’s criminal law practice includes defending all form of Criminal Code charges ranging from property and fraud-related charges, to weapons offenses and serious assault charges, and a substantial practice focused on drug related offenses and trial work in that area.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Anwar is fluent in Arabic and English, and is passionate about criminal law and the pursuit of justice. He has had a successful track record at the Provincial Court of Alberta and Court of Queen’s Bench, with a growing expertise in the law surrounding drug trafficking offenses and related Charter of Rights issues as it affects search warrant executions.
