Akram has practiced primarily criminal defense since being called to the Alberta bar in 1993.  As a skilled litigator, he is most comfortable in the courtroom and has over 23 years of trial experience at both the provincial court and Court of Queen’s Bench level. Akram has extensive experience defending all form of criminal charges, including a substantial practice in drug-related crimes, as well as weapons charges, property crimes, all form of serious assaults including the most serious crimes of murder and manslaughter.  He will tirelessly defend his client’s cause through every level of appeal, and has attended before the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa on numerous appeal cases.


Akram will work hard to assess the circumstances of your case, research the most current developments in the law, and prepare the best defense strategy.  He provides straightforward and frank advice on the strength of the case and the legal options available, and has a proven track record of success at trial, in plea negotiations and on appeals.
